About: I am a jewelry artist, painter and graphic designer living in Ann Arbor, MI with my loving dog Lucy. I spend my time hiking, kayaking on the river, doing yoga, seeing friends, and most of all creating!
What I love to create: For my jewelry I mainly use polymer clay that I marble together with gold leaf and coat with resin for a glassy look. Other materials I love to use as well are stone, leather and copper. Some of my jewelry is even tied to my paintings now, I make earrings to look like miniature scales of my larger paintings. For these I use clay as the canvas.
My paintings are abstract based and inspired by nature for a minimalist appeal. They are simplistic yet unique. I use acrylic paint on paper, canvas, wood, clay or whatever neat medium I can find.
As with all my work, I aim to use as many recycled materials as possible, therefore many of the wood canvas are reused wood flooring boards, or metal in my jewelry is reused scrap metal.
.
My inspiration? Why I make? My inspiration is nature. I love being outside and finding beauty in the earth. For example when the river water runs over rocks, I want to recreate the sparkles that show when the sun hits this rocks in the jewelry by using polymer clay to create stone like coloring and using resin on top or bring that crystal shine as if it was really in the river. Or to paint the lightness and happy-go-lucky feeling of a leaf as it sways in the wind on a warm day. These are the feelings of nature I want my work to evoke.
